I agree but picks that late are shots in the dark with maybe a 30% chance of success.

I think that we have some positional flexibility with a couple of okay backups right now and are starters are either really good or on their way up.

Take a few shots in the dark in the draft and looking at the waiver wires is probably what we see this year. Next year Offensive Line may be a position that we invest in heavily via free agency and the draft.

I think FA is the way to go for OL. Better odds for success and they are already experienced. The draft is such a crap shoot.

First, it gets too expensive, and 2nd, usually good LOTs do not end up on the open market. Teams lock them up. The ones who do get out there, like Whitworth, are usually on the market for a reason---they're older and represent far less of a long term investment. That way you end up needing one every 2-3 years. The ideal with a left OT is to draft your own (usually round 1, sometimes 2) and then lock him up. Then you have him for 10 years. As opposed to buying a new one every 2-3 years, and of course as I said, there just aren't that many out there. To reiterate, they usually get locked up with the team that drafted them and therefore usually if there is one in FA it's because he has crossed the threshold into being older.
