For all those "wondering" what was up with Watkins last season..........It's quite clear that McVay was expecting more than what #12 could give.....Let's see where Cooks can take this offense this season.
Agreed. Benoit's quote: "it wasn't the scheme, it was the player" might be true. SW admitted he had trouble absorbing the playbook. IMO, that says a lot. It might also explain why he wasn't thrown to even thow he was "open". He might have been running the wrong route, cutting the route short or improvising which got him open that much. In a "timing" offense, you have to be precise. I am not sure SW was. McVay absolutely wanted SW to succeed. There was a reason(s) he didn't. Only McVay knows those reasons but I am sure that is why he is not a Ram right now.
I never got the impression that Goff was comfortable throwing to Sammy. A reasonable answer is that Watkins wasn't running routes correctly/properly. He looked open but he may not have been where Goff expected him to be.
Exactly max. That's why sometimes "stills" just don't tell the whole picture. He may "appear" open, but is he at the "expected" spot where he should be? Was that the correct route called? Did he make his "break" at the right time, etc? Unfortunately, I don't think McVay will ever tell us what really happened.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
