Here are the 7 players over $4M this year:
Suh - the sides likely have no intent for a long term relationship.
Joyner - $10M - $13M range. I'm skeptical they work out a deal.
Saffold - $10M range. My guess is both sides would like to work out an extension. The Rams need the continuity on the OL.
Webster - Who knows? May not play much this year. Probably won't be very expensive to retain.
Gurley - $9.63M range. The Rams will certainly pick up his 5th year option by the deadline of 5/3/18. As a top 10 pick, his option amount will be the average of the top 10 RB salaries in the league which equates to the transition tag amount.
Donald - $20M - $25M range. IF the sides work out an extension, the 2019 cap hit will probably be substantial. They may end up having to franchise tag him.
Peters - $9.5M - $12M range. The Rams will certainly pick up his 5th year option by the deadline of 5/3/18 too. As pick #15, his option amount will be the average of the 3rd thru 25th CB salaries in the league. I haven't calculated that amount but I think it will be in the range I have here.
Those are the big money deals. AD, Gurley, Peters, Joyner, and Saffold. If they retained them all it could be near $65M.
Here are other notable free agents that I suspect won't be very expensive. They probably won't even keep them all.
Westbrooks
Hav
Jamon Brown
Mannion
My thoughts on what they can afford? I don't see how they work in OBJ long term unless they plan to part ways with Peters.
The Gronk fantasy could happen. He's on a short term 2 year deal at about $9M per year. He'd fit the go all in for the next 2 years profile.
