That is a big assumption and not a given, but if having OBJ led to a SB win next year would it be worth it?
I mean 2 firsts and not extending someone etc might be worth a SB. Then again if it led to lessening future chances of a SB run would it be worth it?
It is an interesting question. Would you take a guaranteed SB victory in one year if it meant you would not return to the SB for another 5 years?
Or would you take your chances and most likely not win a SB in one year but have a chance the next 5 years straight?
Of course OBJ does not guarantee a SB and not having OBJ does not preclude it either. But what if the front office believed OBJ=SB?
