They're having an epic showdown in NY and OBJ has proclaimed that he's not suiting up for anybody without an extension.
He has the leverage to make that happen b/c he doesn't need to play a single game this year to become a free agent afterwards. He already has 4 accrued seasons.
So NY has to extend him or trade him. Trading him a different year makes no sense. OBJ is forcing their hand, it's decision time.
You may be right on the unlikliness of the Rams trading for him but on your first premise... Nah.
