It's why I use words like "some" and "generally". Some don't seem to mind the tax issue; some it matters a lot. It sure matters to me, but apparently it doesn't matter to you. Some people don't mind if it takes 2 hours to drive the 20 miles to work; others can't tolerate it. So on and so forth.
But to think that some players looking for contracts don't look at expenses including the highest taxes in the USA in SoCal, and among the highest overall living expenses in the USA in SoCal, is naive. Do they all ? The majority? Probably not. But some do and it is a detractor even if other factors might outweigh those negative factors among some players, but not among others.
Why does bringing up the FACT of the significant taxes and high living expenses bother you so much? Do you actually believe that people don't know, or that it simply plays no role in people's decisions? Including players? Or that SoCal is considered the be-all end-all destination for everyone? Some absolutely love it, and others wouldn't live there for all the tea in China.....and everything in between.
