You can't always find a trade partner for this, but I think the Rams should -- every year -- trade some of their late picks for the following year's draft. With rare exceptions, you can move up a round, even two. And logic tells us that if you do this every year it's possible, you maximize the value of your picks, and it adds flexibility.
For 2018, I'd also try to trade up into the 5th with two picks, keep one 6th and use it, and trade two more for next year. That is, if the Rams actually do have five, total. They may have given away one of those in some other trade.
I hope McSnead are aggressive in playing the best chess possible -- every season, of course.
