By what standard? No it doesn't make sense.
The Rams have PLENTY of cap room going forward. Why would they will screw up a multiple Super Bowl run opportunity by not signing Donald this year? Isn't Demoff & Company smart enough to know that?
You spend $11million on Joyner and Donald is 3 times the value of Joyner. The Joyner tag was stupid. The market for safeties is way lower than $11 million and you guys are worried about overpaying the best defensive player...future HOFer,...possibly the best player overall in the NFL?
Next year...you're going to start losing players because you'll have zero leverage. The cap will be used on Donald. Goodbye Cooks, goodbye Joyner. Use the cap again in 2020...goodbye Gurley...goodbye Peters. Goodbye goodbye goodbye.
This management team has shown us one thing...sign the not fit players...and unable to sign the key cogs.
And you all are so certain we are going to sign Cooks next year? Based on what track record?
This conversation started last year when we brain stormed trading Doanld for Zack Martin. We would have been the laughing stocks of the league.
Amazing...I listen to former Pros...one after the other...think there is no way you lose a talent like Donald.
This is not how you build a Super Bowl champion. This is not how you build for a multi-year run.
Sign the man!
The only thing that "makes sense" is signing Aaron Donald. Give him a opt out....whatever. As I see it, it will be the three best years of his career. And, if he's worth it after three years, sign him again. Otherwise you can move on. Have we forgotten we can tag Goff?
Final note...while Goff's value is huge and a priority...he's not near the talent Donald is. Donald is the Aaron Rodgers of tackles.
