Career statstics are often a better indication of what we may expect a player to do going forward. Certainly agents will negotiate for money based on them. But I must say they are not overly impressive for a “True 1”, then again he played for Buffalo. McVay’s offense spread the ball around. I don’t think that’s going to change. So it is hard to evaluate him on just statstics. There is value in having Watkins. He provides a constant threat that puts pressure on a defense (As does GOURLEY, WOODS and KUPP). Any missing piece will affect production of the TEAM. I am certain that the Rams want him back, but if he thinks he’s getting a huge long term contract I don’t see it with the Rams. I guess it will depend on who else can provide a like threat and at what cost.
