I can't imagine a team trading for TA before March 16. TA is due a roster bonus of $5M on that date and if someone trades for him before that date then that team is on the hook for that $5M payment.
And I can't imaging the Rams cutting TA any time soon. That $5M roster bonus is guaranteed so it won't cost the Rams a dime more to cut him in August that it would cost them to cut him today.
What am I missing?
If they cut him between now and March 16 we would have a cap savings of $3mil and dead cap charge of $5 mil
If they cut him after that there would be no cap savings and $8 mil in dead cap money
If we trade him at any point the cap affects would be the same as if we cut him pre-March 16.
So they will cut him on or before March 16 if they cannot find a sucker that will take him.
