If I had to give percentages of who's to blame for Watkins 2017 less than stellar receptions & yardage totals.
50% Goff = QB ultimately chooses who he throws to based on his vision, progressions & ability to read a defense.
35% McVay = The HC & play-caller should be all over his QB in the weekly film room about the missed opportunities
15% Watkins = Admitted he was not as sharp as he wanted to be with all the nuances of the playbook/audibles etc...Question: if Goff and McVay collectively constituted 85% of the “blame” for Watkins’ difficulties in ‘17, and both Goff and McVay will clearly be back in ‘18, what should we conclude about Watkins’ prospects in ‘18?
I think that my arbitrary $10 million per is the limit of risk for me with Watkins and that’s giving him millions in benefit of doubt due to perceived potential.
We’ll soon see how S&M feel about all this.
