Just to clarify, do you believe that Watkins’ disappointing season was because of lingering foot problems? Your article kinda hinted at that.

I fear that it might be something more long term and maybe uncorrectable. Like a football smarts thing? Some kind of learning disorder? Unfortunately, wouldn’t be the first occurrence among recent Ram WR’s. Quick and Tavon come to mind.

Nah I don't think Watkins' stats were hampered by the foot.

The foot injury part of the article for me was just a reminder of the adversity he went through when he was in Buffalo.

The article expressed how he admitted he was sensitive/immature and a Diva type during his Bills years.

I believe his 2017 stats were mostly held back by a combination of Goff/McVay.

Sammy was less responsible for his final numbers last year but he was part of the reason.

Maybe he does have have a slow learning curve combined with frustration that he wasn't having the kind of year he envisioned.

I won't pretend to know Sammy's football IQ for retaining McVay's offense... but he's obviously not Kupp smart above the shoulders.

I doubt he's anywhere close to a Tavon or Quick when comparing a learning disorder imo...

I believe his knowledge of the offense and feel for his QB beginning week 1 of 2018 will discount your concerns in that department.

If I had to give percentages of who's to blame for Watkins 2017 less than stellar receptions & yardage totals.

50% Goff = QB ultimately chooses who he throws to based on his vision, progressions & ability to read a defense.

35% McVay = The HC & play-caller should be all over his QB in the weekly film room about the missed opportunities

15% Watkins = Admitted he was not as sharp as he wanted to be with all the nuances of the playbook/audibles etc...
