Are you implying that Watkin's foot is unable to take the stress of a strong foot plant? Or that he simply doesn't have (or maybe it is employ) the technique to cut properly? I'm intrigued by this.
The thing is: all we've publicly heard from both McVay and Snead is that they want Watkins back; no equivocation. No reason to speak quite that firmly and glowingly after the season about a FA if they didn't mean it. Don't you think? That is; what advantage is there to playing UP their desire to have him stay and professing how good he is, if they aren't sure he's a fit? If there was doubt, all you do is say nice things about him and speak about "we'll see how things work out" regarding his return.
