I have no problem bringing back Mannion in 2018. Like Goff, he benefits from coming back into the same, QB-friendly system vs. having to learn something new. Now Mannion is not one of the top 4 or 5 backup QBs in the league and like 90% of the NFL the Rams are hosed if they have to go to their backup for any extended period. But I do agree that while his start vs. the 49ers was valuable from an experience standpoint he was playing with pure backups so saying "see, he can't play!" isn't a fair conclusion. He'll probably get the bulk of preseason work again this August which can only help him. Beyond 2018 I'm definitely not saying we have to extend this guy and maybe they do look to add a more experienced veteran. But for 2018 I think you stay put with him.
