Yeah, Charlie sucked as a coach outside of N.E. and may be a bad example of "resting". I have been watching football for about 45 years and I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard coaches, players, and talking head experts say just how important it is to have ANY chance to recharge players late in a season. I have heard so many times that THAT is just important as having a home playoff game. We had BOTH! These guys are PROS! I am QUITE certain that Cooper caught "just a few" punts over the 2 weeks and was not watching Cartoon Network. Hell, Barron looked like he needed MORE rest because he sure did not look like he felt like running on the 52 yard run by ATL, late.
I can only imagine the hell raised towards McVay if Gurley even tweaked an ankle vs the Niners. From 4 and 12 to 11 and 5 and DIVISION WINNER? I think HC has this.
