You keep referring to it as "tanking" as if it was not some sort of purposefull loss. It was simply to assure the team was healthy going into the playoffs.
They pointed out that the fans simply want to point to a reason and that is the easiest one. I personally wanted them to play and stay sharp, but can definitely see why you would want to secure health heading into the playoffs. Had Gurley twisted an ankle or Goff get a concussion in a meaningless game right before the playoffs , this board would NEVER Hear the end of it.
Most teams would have done the same thing in the Rams situation.
How do you explain Cooper having his worse game of the year when he PLAYED last week?
Are the Vikings and Eagles doomed because they didn't play this week?
