Jimmy G sat on the pine for 4 years and he's looked good in the 5 games he played here at the end of 2017. However, I will point out to you that many were claiming Derek Carr was a franchise QB after 2016. Well? What happened to Derek Carr in 2017?
For you to say that Goff is is only good because of Gurley is a total disrespect to Goff.
We cannot ignore what Jimmy G has done in his 5 starts. They are in the books and on the record. At the same time we cannot ignore the tremendous season Jared Goff has had.
Derek Carr is the perfect example for Jimmy G. Derek Carr had his team in the playoffs and then this season he was not the same QB. What does this mean? It means that you cannot project that a QB is a franchise elite QB based on this small a sample size. Especially when you understand what the competition was Jimmy G faced.
Bears ( not a good team)
Texans ( not a good team)
Titans (inconsistent team with a bad QB (Marriota) and a bad offense)
Jaguars (Young up and coming team that is inconsistent and loses some games they should win. In fact the Jags lost to the Titans last week)
Rams (Played all their scrubs and made a decision they didn't care about the game and were getting ready for the playoffs)
Goff, in 477 pass attemps has 296 completions with only 7 interceptions. His completion percentage is 62.1 percent.
Jimmy G. in only 178 attempts has 120 completions but almost the same amount of interceptions with 5. His completion percentage is over 67 percent but again way fewer attempts. 5 Interceptions could mean he takes more chances and puts the ball where he should not because he believes he can complete any throw.
Goff has started 22 games in 2 years. Garopollo? 5? 6?
If Jimmy G has a full season in 2018 with 16 starts we shall have a better picture on who he is.
