There is NO way Quinn or any player is simply going to take guaranteed money off the table.
However, it that player and his agent are realistic, and depending on what that player's plan is for his future, it can make sense (especially for a physically compromised player) to extend and rework the contract so that in the end he gets the same money just spread out a bit. Quinn knows full well that he is not likely to get the full money for 2018 or 2019.
On the other hand Quinn and his agent may decided to hold fast, require the Rams to pay in full, trade him, or just release him. It is impossible to know at this point.
But clearly Quinn cannot be an every down player any longer. His body just won't take it and allow him to be effective.
