I look at it this way. Lonagcare had 5.5 sacks in 377 snaps. Quinn has 8.5 in 625 snaps. I realize Longacre is about to undergo back surgery but assuming he's 100% for 2018 could he produce as much as Quinn- maybe more- with increased snaps? I say he can. And I think they need to tender Longacre at a 2nd round level to protect him from other teams.
They have managed Quinn well and keeping him to ~40 snaps/game he's produced pretty well. IF he was willing to take a cut or restructure that reduced his cap #
at least in half then maybe. But to me his 2018 cap number would need to be about $4-5M max. Maybe he'd agree in exchange for free agency in 2019.
