Not good to get it wrong and laugh at somebody else who didn't.
Anyway, it's obvious that McVay doesn't view it the same way Belichick and Tomlin do. The question is, why not? They are playing their starters with only one thing to gain, and that's the chance to host the conference championship game rather than go on the road for it should they get there. That chance is also the only thing the Rams have to gain by securing the third seed. You're saying they're not similar, but they are in fact undeniably similar.
You contend Belichick doesn't want to go on the road to face Pittsburgh again because they narrowly won there recently? Okay, are you saying McVay wants to go on the road to play the Saints in the Superdome with Fickens as the kicker after the difference between the two in LA was two GZ FG's? Why would he be okay with that? Would Belichick be okay with that?
I'm not sure why this reminds you of people going crazy over what McVay did during a preseason game. Nobody is going crazy here. I'm only pointing out that there is another legitimate way to look at this. Maybe it will turn out to be the right thing. Maybe it won't. I'm on record as not being a fan of the decision, but I'm also not going to bash McVay for it because he's clearly earned the benefit of the doubt.
