I think Wentz is having a better season than Goff. Even better, I would put it. His rating, as you say, is 102 to Goff's 98. And he has thrown a lot more TD's (which is built into the rating and is probably the primary reason his rating is higher than Goff's).
That is to date, and since it is deep into the season, those numbers will probably hold close to that until the end.
It's approximately a 4% difference on the rating scale. Close enough to say that both young QB's are having great years, I think.
Anything above 95 is approaching ProBowl type numbers, depending on the competition from year to year.
And anyone who agreed with that would be treating them both fairly, imo.
I think another reason that the Eagles have been perceived differently than the Rams is that they have always been ahead of the Rams, even if just by a game or two, throughout the season. Even if that changes now, maybe this weekend, there have been so many weeks of hearing that the Eagles have the best record, that it is now stuck in a lot of people's minds that they're the better team.
As we know from history, even one head-to-head matchup doesn't necessarily settle the issue. I can remember a season back in the 70's where the Rams walloped the Cowboys in a late regular season game like 30 something to 7 or thereabouts. Only, alas, to have the Cowboys reverse that score when they met in the playoffs. Playoffs count more.
That's why I say I'll wait until the NFC championship before declaring team X to be the NFC's best. Too much schedule variation and whatnot to make that judgement yet.
And that's where we get to the rub. I just can't figure why, in a year that the Rams are having such a fine season, and are within 1 game of the conference leaders, we have Ram fans so eager to declare another team the best already.
Of course opinions vary, but to me it just seems like there is a grass-is-always-greener syndrome that makes some Ram fans see good everywhere else but at home.
