I know the Cowboys were without Elliot...and without him their offense is just a dud. However.....back when the Rams beat the Cowboys in Arlington I really viewed that game as a launching point for this Rams team. But it turns out these are not last year's Cowboys. Now, when you look back at the Rams schedule.....the only three teams that were of true "Playoff Caliber" when the Rams played them are the Jags, Seahawks, and Vikings. And they are 1 and 2 against them.
This stretch of games against obvious playoff teams is going to be fun to watch. Is this Rams team the one that choked the life out of the Jags on the Road? Or is it the one that turns the ball over one too many times....and can't make the Big Time catch (as they did vs The Seahawks and Vikings)
The Rams are ALL of the good and bad, up and down things we have seen.
It's still a young team, in spite of the FA additions. More than that it's a young team with a young qb and a young HC. That all combines to mean this---it's an inconsistent team still figuring it's way in a new system.
It also has both a brilliant veteran defensive coordinator who can often cover up holes in defensive personnel, AND a defense with some holes in it.
The trend is upward, absolutely. But in the short term they will stumble here and there.
So, oddly, I can say I completely believe this is a strong team for years to come while ALSO saying...in the present....that I'm not sure if they will win their next game.
Now and then the 2017 Rams are just going to run straight into a tree.
BUT the future is bright. At the exact same time.
