To me, it's having different types of weapons to find that one mismatch to exploit

November 13, 2017 05:51PM
The Rams have the stud stiff-arm RB in Gurley. They have the scat-back speed RB in Tavon. They have the clutch "go-to" WR in Kupp. They now have the speedy game breaker WR in Woods. Watkins....we think....is a weapon....but not sure how he differentiates himself.

It can sometimes take McVay until halftime to understand where the matchup exploitation exists....but he is ALWAYS able to eventually find it. Once he does.....it completely changes the flow of the game where the other weapons are able to cash in.

The one piece I think this team is missing (and quite frankly has been missing for a decade) is the 6' 5"+ tight end with sure hands to whom Goff could throw the jump ball for the TD. Think Gronkowski, Kelce, Witten, Graham, or Ertz. I suppose they think Higbee or Everett could fit that mold. I don't see Higbee getting there....and Everett could develop into a unique weapon....but he is a bit short for this type of role (6' 3"winking smiley. Perhaps if he has an outstand vertical leap, that makes up the difference. McVay loved his Tight Ends in Washington. I don't think he will stop until he gets a stud TE.
