He is the epitome of PC.
And not hard to figure out which side of the political spectrum he stands for.
Football is not on the way out no matter what the findings of traumatic brain injuries might be. College football is more popular than ever; and the NFL has only lost popularity recently because of Goodell's politically based policies and a few players thinking they'll use their team's national platform to express their personal views.
The headlines are the rare player who quits because of injury fears.
Or the parent who won't allow their talented child to play the game.
And of course they get the attention because guess who controls the media and what agenda they are pushing? The same people who love Participation Trophies and hate the concept of winners and losers.
I do suspect that we'll see continued rules changes to stop hits with great potential for injury but don't add to the game.
And I suspect we'll see more advanced helmet design to help.
But, these things come and go with the times.
Boxing is about as poor a comparison as you can get. Boxing was always kind of on the seedy side and operated in the shadows. Two combatants trying to render the other unconscious is nothing like football. In football when a person is knocked motionless, both teams show great concern. It happens; but it's not supposed to.
Bottom line: Costas is full of crap as usual and has no idea what he's talking about. It's simply his personal wish.
