How the other draft picks turn out simply doesn't add up to the value of one NFL quality starting QB; let alone one who after 8 games has a 97 QB rating and is 6-2 as a starter. If one of them turned out to be Aaron Donald or Andrew Whitworth, it still doesn't add up to the same value as acquiring a good NFL QB.
QBs are so valuable, so difficult to find, and effect game outcomes and team chemistry so much, that all other positions pale in comparison.
Not demeaning in any way your post. I had no idea who those traded picks produced or how they're doing and I appreciate you researching it.
My point is that regardless of who is on that list, philosophically it IS worth it to trade away a boat load of draft picks for a QB. Of course, the QB has to turn out to be who you hope he is. And, it is unlikely that very many of those traded picks are going to become much of anything either. It's a risk, but a worthwhile one.
BTW: Cleveland is nuts to keep acquiring a boatload of picks, but never spending anything meaningful for a QB. That is the whackiest organization I've seen in a long time. The guys they've passed on should have brought retributions and firings.
