This is a young inexperienced team with a young inexperienced coach.
This was entirely predictable.
Goff looked great and then he looked awful.
He's 22-years-old!
The O looked great and then awful.
They are young and growing together.
I was so, so pizzed at the end and I was screaming at the TV that Goff sucks and McVay sucks and my TV sucks for putting me though it.
I'm still going to Jacksonville though, because this team needs time.
We've been teased with what is possible.
But it will take time.
I'm so down, but I keep saying to myself.
Patience.
Patience grasshopper.
I know it sounds like "sore loser" stuff, but I really thought the call on Gurley's fumble was terrible. I think the refs should have erred on the side of caution, given the call on the field, and the fact that even with the replays, it was still not clear if it was inside or outside the pylon. I think the right call was to give the Rams the ball at the half yard line. And with 20/20 hindsight, that appears to have been the game right there. That burst the Rams bubble all at once.
More sore loser stuff: I think Graham pushed off on his TD. Big time. I think it was obvious.
Beyond that . . . poor throwing by Goff on too many plays, but great throws here and there. As you say, he's young. He turns 23 in season. So he'll get much better. But it looks like the running game regressed, and that needs to be shored up, cuz the absence of a running threat put waaay too much pressure on Goff. He needs
that to work in order to do his best through the air.
The D was excellent overall. Tough to be critical of a unit that only gives up 16 points, and puts a lot of pressure on a very good scrambler. To me, the defense is coming on and learning the new system. Unfortunately, the offense took a step backward today, perhaps most critically in the running game.
I'm still thinking they make the playoffs. But they're a few upgrades away from being a highly
competitive team once they get there.
Hope all is well --
