I hear ya...but

The Cowboys game will mean nothing if we can't prove the doubters wrong and the believers they were/are right tomorrow.

I just have a different view of all this. They could lose a game or 2 coming up, and it might make the doubters think they're right. To which I say, so what? The doubters won't be right.

They are on their way to becoming a relevant team this year. That's just apparent and obvious. But that does not mean they have "arrived" or that they are a division winning, playoff winning juggernaut.

And they don't have to be. What we've seen is real but it is still a young team with a new coach and 2 new systems and a qb who has so far only played 11 games. History just says that teams like that can stumble.

I don't foresee any situation where they regress or prove not to be "real." They already ARE real.

And tomorrow won't change the fact that they're a young team that could still stumble. What I expect is for the upward trend to continue, even with some dips in it along the way.

A win tomorrow would be nice, obviously, but even that won't change the fact that young teams stumble. And if they do they do.

My take is that a win tomorrow will not necessarily mean they have "arrived" as a mature team yet, and a loss tomorrow will not mean they aren't real.

To me, this is just not the 1999 SF game. That was a veteran superbowl ready Rams team with a top defense, experienced skill players, and an older qb, and they had very experienced veteran coaches who had been with the team for 2 previous years. Plus on top of it the 99 49ers were a paper tiger who lost 8 straight beginning with that game. This Seattle team is much better than that 49ers team was, and this Rams team is not as developed and "ready" as that Rams team was.

Again a win would be nice but there's a lot of football ahead for a still developing team. I am just confident that the ingredients of that team are right and that when we add it up at the end of the season, that will be completely clear.

Now if I am wrong and this is 99 redux and they loft into the stratosphere starting tomorrow, I promise I won't complain. If that happens I'll take it. cool smiley

Agreed, but devil's advocate: what if I'm a Hawks fan?

Sure. Right. Whatever you have to tell yourself, Seahawk fan. :) nm.
