I had to go back and look up info on those seasons in order to be reminded about what happened.
What I DO remember about the 1995 Rich Brooks 4-0 start is that it was fueled almost entirely by that Rams team committing NO turnovers while receiving many from their opponents. That was the big story of that start.
Whether that was luck or design, it didn't continue, and once they weren't lopsidedly winning the TO battle, they were revealed as a very ordinary team.
And Rich Brooks just wasn't able to make the jump from successful college coach to NFL coach.
I see that they lost twice that season to the division winner 11-5 SF 9er's, and the niners scored 40+ points both times.
----
In 2006, they had a terrible draft. Tye Hill, Joe Kloppy, Claude Wroten. Nothing like the bounty they have reaped in 2017.
Bulger had a good season, and they threw a ton of passes to Jackson out of the backfield. More than he ever got before or since. I always wondered why Linehan went away from that.
There's a similarity there to how the Rams are using Gurley.
But as in 1995, they lost twice to the eventual Division winner - Seattle this time.
The similarity ends between Linehan and McVay. Right from the beginning, I thought Linehan defined the word "milquetoast". A good offensive mind, but just not a leader of men.

So you bring up some interesting examples and we shall see. Like I said, this game will be a big proof to me. I don't see the 9ers or Cards being division winners this year. I think it's the Rams or the Seahawks. Tomorrow will determine which of the two has at least a chance to sweep the other.
