I agree with your conclusion that there was good stuff going on there. To name perhaps the most obvious: Todd Gurley didn't just have better stats yesterday. He was a better back yesterday than he has been in some time. The no-quit was good to see, though not as GOOD as quitting there would have been DEVASTATING to see. (How's any team w/an iota of self-respect gonna quit down only 2 scores early at home in the second game of the season? Still,...they didn't.)
What's gonna take another year, and more, is for the this team (plus or minus a key piece or two - looking at you, Tru, and probably you, TA) under this leadership to become as good as they can be. Of course. Young team, young QB running new schemes on O and D - they dag well should keep improving for a bit. I do NOT think it has to take another year for them to be pretty good. I think this team can be pretty dang good come midseason AND win enough games before getting there to have plenty to play for over the second half of the season.
