a QB was forced on Fisher. Fisher blew it. If you want to argue that no QB was forced on Fisher, all the worse for your position.
I never said because Fisher was stubborn Goff failed last year. I mentioned that Fisher's stubbornness to help Goff out in the playbook was baffling. I also mentioned Goff had never called a play in a huddle, taken a snap from under center, etc. I am well aware of why Goff failed. I think if you go back to last year, you will notice I mentioned this stuff over and over when evaluating Goff and Wentz.
Goff was a #1 pick for a reason. He did things well in college. Let him do some of that stuff in the pros. Ease him in. Or get fired and let your replacement show more brains then you while you sit on your ranch in Montana. (and I am insulted by anyone calling what Fisher has as a ranch)
You know I respect you and your posts and have even complimented you on your writing. There's a lot we agree on and there are many posts you write I find informative. But the only thing that forced a qb on the Rams was Foles melting down after trading Bradford. In other words, what forced a qb on the Rams was needing a qb.
I never see any evidence for the qb forced on position. It's completely counter-intuitive, especially since we know one qb WAS forced on FIsher--Young--and he let it be known how he felt about that. Snead even confronted "qb forced on JF" conspiracy theorists on ESPN radio and pointed out at length how empty that claim was.
Your complaint is that they didn't adapt to Goff last year. Actually they did. But Goff was in an impossible situation. He was the green Air Raid qb you rightly say he was, on a team that was out of sync and had issues in the running game on top of it.
He's no longer a rookie and there is no evidence anywhere that McVay cut things back for him. Like all good coaches he is adapting to what the guy is strong at, but then, they all do that. They were even doing it last year which was one reason 75% of his attempts were out of the shotgun (on a team that loved play action).
