I think where we disagree is here:
I have no inside info on the forcing of a QB on anyone. I honestly don't really care. I do care that he picked the wrong QB for what he was trying to accomplish (at least in my humble opinion)
2nd thing - Goff's impossible situation? Why wasn't Wentz in an impossible situation? Pro style offense vs. Bear Raid? yup. And I mentioned it. On top of that, Fisher never gave the reigns to Goff from the get go. It may have helped getting first team reps. What didn't help was Fisher relegating Goff to 3rd team, then slowly moving him up.
Foles being a misfire and Bradford's series of injuries were totally out of Fisher's control and everyone suffered for it. Goff, to a degree, could have been better last year.
I think Goff was a good pick. I have no quarrel with the pick and no reason to 2nd guess it. If you do we just part company and will just have to agree to disagree.
Why was Goff in a much worse situation than Wentz? Jeez let me count the ways. Wentz had been in a pro system, went to a team that had not moved and could run the ball (10th in attempts, 11th in yards) and did not have OL issues the way the Rams did. The offensive coaching staff was much more veteran (which is not a shot at Weinke). The Rams and Goff would have clearly been in a better situation if they had a running game and yet we know the running game was not just the OL or coaching, a lot of it was Gurley too (and it remains to be seen if that has been fixed).
Not you, but I think sometimes guys like to get in line and bash the last coach and it leaves them completely at odds with all the other realities they can't or don't account for. Well 2016 was not about just one thing. It was a long list of things. If the goal is just to have complete and well-rounded analysis, above all other goals, then I find it is impossible to reduce 2016 to one or two major things. I think that approach is just tilted and misses way too much.
And even given all that I doubt Goff would ever have been that much better last year anywhere else. He was THAT green. In fact when he gets recognized as a steady continuing franchise starter level qb, he will be the first from the Air Raid ever to do it in the NFL, and that goes back to Couch. He just needed to go through a rookie season and then settle down. Which he did. The 2017 Rams are already benefitting from the fact that Goff is just plain not a rookie and that matters.
