Donald is in violation of the contract he agreed to. The Rams are not. If he didn't like the contract, holding out for a better deal before he signed it was the rigtheht thing to do. This is the wrong thing to do.
Donald is totally in the wrong here, but the Rams still shouldn't trade him unless they can get equal value, which would be difficult.
I disagree with your contract analysis. I don't believe right or wrong enters into the equation when a party to a contract exercises their rights or chooses to suffer the explicit contractual consequences of failing to perform a duty. In both cases, it's a business decision.
But even if we agreed there was a right and wrong here, that still doesn't affect the logic that these guys are "one" play away from working as a greeter at Walmart.
That logic would make the Rams proceed with caution in any negotiation.
It would also motivate a player to get the most they can.
