The Rams have invested so much in Goff, that for this not to be Goff's team at this point would be a monumental blunder on the part of the organization.
Goff is not sitting behind a vet QB anymore. He should not be sitting behind Mannion, a guy they drafted in the 3rd round a year before they mortgaged the farm for the 1st overall pick in the draft to acquire Goff. They added Allen, IMO, to compete with Mannion for the backup position, or to replace him. Ben Allbright said a month ago...

@AllbrightNFL Rams are desperately looking for depth behind Goff. Not sold on Mannion, continue to work out QBs.
So yes, this is Goff's team this year. The big question is will it still be his team next year. The answer to that question is entirely up to Goff.
He cannot do what McVay said he cannot do after the Chargers PS game. He cannot put the team in a position where they are 2 TDs down because of strip sacks for TDs or ugly INTs. That's what Goff was last year; he must be measurably better this year to the point where McVay feels confident that he can win with Goff going forward. Right now we don't know if that's the case.
I believe this first game will tell us a lot about what direction Goff is headed. He must be at least competent. This is his team, if Goff can't at least be competent then he doesn't deserve for it to be his team.
