Nobody knows the details except the Rams and Donald's agents.
They have done a great job keeping quiet and whatever we read about it is BS and pure speculation until we hear it from the Rams FO or Donald's agents.
Do I think they are at an impass? Duh. But what exactly are the things they can't come to agreement on? Nobody but a few insiders know and that doesn't include any in the media.....so far.
The Rams need to hold their ground. Move on. Let him swing in the wind. It's not just the money and the terms; it's the timing.
But I predict considering the extreme nature of Donald's agent's position that it looks more and more like he is not even going to show up for the regular season. The next step we'll hear about will be the threat of a Curt Flood style lawsuit. Donald may well be willing to forgo playing to test the rookie wage scale and the right for a team to hold a players' rights in perpetuity under a similar situation. Let's remember that Donald is not without means. He's already earned millions.
If he does that, then indeed the Rams have a choice of letting him reap what he sows, or trading him. I vote hang in there and reap what he sows.
And can we forget now the "respect" crap. Donald's side is showing the greatest disrespect by what they are doing. The Rams and McVay act like this is normal and customary and just a minor spat; it is not. It is serious and it is not friendly or we wouldn't be here. It is audacious and shows a complete disregard for the terms of the contract he signed a mere 3 years ago. Why would you trust a guy to resign him to ANYTHING knowing in 3 more years this will probably happen all over again?
McVay needs to channel some Belicheck and say that he'll brook no more questions on Donald because he's not part of the team by his own choice. He's only interested in talking about Rams players and players who actually want to play and contribute to this great franchise.
