Under Boras in 2015, Gurley did fine. With Boras as the coordinator in the last 4 games TG got 322 yards on 64 carries with 5 TDs, which is 5 YPC and 12.8 carries per TD. In that stretch of 4 games, he had one bad game, one great game, and 2 games with 4.4 or so YPC, so it evens out.
Do that across 16 games and it's 1288 yards rushing and 20 rushing TDs.
So many things went wrong in 2016 that trying to find one "cause" to hang it all on is kind of just plain wishful thinking.
ONE OF THE THINGS that went wrong in 2016 was Gurley himself.
If he has improved on his dedication to the game, he ought to be fine in 2017. If he hasn't it doesn't matter who the coordinator is.
