First you have to consider scheme and team needs Rock, every team ahead of the Rams didn't need a guy who projected to the slot.
Maybe some teams ahead of the Rams needed a speed receiver more than a possession type receiver.
The receivers taken ahead of Kupp might turn out to be better fits for what they needed. That's no slight towards Kupp.
So there are a number of factors you need to consider.
But here is potentially the most important one.....
Cooper Kupp has not played one down of regular season NFL football.
He's looked good and I have high hopes for him but lets see him against press coverage.
Let's see him when the field tightens before we form any conclusions.
I agree, they have standards which they feel lends themselves to success of players taken.
Kupp at 6'2" and just over 200 pounds certainly has proto-typical size for a WR. 4.6 in the 40 is not horrible if you have reliable hands, are smart, well coached and you stay healthy. Kupp is all those things.
Kupp is not just a slot guy in my estimation. I think he could be a number 2.
