He would still be behind. PLUS would be a rookie on top of it. That's my view. I have yet to see anything that would convince me otherwise. Look, when Goff makes it as a continuing year to year NFL starter, he will be the first college Air Raid qb to ever do it, going back to Couch in 99.

AND I also think that the negative view of qb coaching we often hear about last year is just hyperbolic. For example, Weinke still gets spoken of in positive terms---that's out there. And I think Goff's situation was made worse by having no running game, and when you look at the 2016 running game, it has more than one cause too.

It's good having an offensive head coach with some veteran offensive coaches. I certainly don't downplay that. But a lot went wrong last year, more than most people even mention, and it's way beyond 1 or 2 things and IMO does not simply reduce to coaching.

If anything the way I see it one good advantage McVay and staff have this year is precisely that Goff ISN'T a rookie.

And Goff himself was working on moving past his rookie status and working on his game in those terms before he even met McVay.
