I don't agree with that assessment. I don't overlook it, I flat disagree with it.
1. You keep elite players when you stumble across them.
2. Yes absolutely the position is invaluable. It is harder to find an elite DT than an outside pass rusher. If you have the elite DT you can add a good outside rusher and you have a very tough combination. You can't get that combo without the elite DT, and not that many of them exist in all NFL history, let alone in every draft.
Demoff flat said that Philips really wants Donald. That's for good reason.
