I liked the way the defense played yesterday. With some minor and quite small exceptions, I liked everything about it.

But some complaints about the past are just groundless.

Last year the Rams defense was 4th best in the league when it came to allowing 3rd down conversions. You may not like the laying off approach but the fact is, it worked.

Where the defense collapsed last year was in redzone scoring percentage. That was the problem. Not third down defense. (And even then, that was a disappointing regression---the year before, they had been 2nd best in redzone scoring percentage.)
