I think OL depth is where it could happen too. Final cuts could free up someone that could be an upgrade at G/T over Donnal. Would love to see the Rams add another Garrett Reynolds type.
What a huge stupid mistake that was to let Joe Barksdale go two years ago. WHY? Barksdale is a solid right tackle and has been for the last two years for the Chargers.
Grits
With all due respect, Barksdale is not a solid RT. The only thing he does better than average tackles is give up pressures, which he was top-15 in 2015 and top-10 in 2016 with 94 total pressures in those two seasons combined. That is more than Greg Robinson, though I will say that Greg played less snaps than Barksdale and the AFC West is brutal and loaded with pass rushers. The Rams made their offer and he didn't want it since he thought he was worth more and then when he didn't get it, he took a one-year deal at the base minimum instead of going back to the Rams with a hurt ego. His 2015 season was better for the fact that he played in almost 700 pass blocking snaps, but they'd be in the same boat with him.
And rewarded with a 4 yr extension so evidently the Chargers think he's solid enough.
Also at one point he had actually started 31 out of 32 games, so he's dependable as well. I don't think he missed a game with the Rams.
Phillip Rivers ain't exactly the easiest qb to block for seeing that he is an absolute statue in the pocket.
You put a lot of stock in pressures...you ever wonder what the result of those pressures were?
Yeah I posted it once before and and the whole thread got deleted. Oddly enough, it was a response to one of your posts asking this same exact question, but the difference in numbers were huge when compared to with and without pressure. You can ask RFIP as I know that he saw it before it was deleted.
As I said, 2015 was a good year with the amount of pass rushing snaps he played, but there's a reason they spent three draft picks on lineman with a new regime in town.
