We need to have learned by now that the Rams FO (and coaching staff) is very tight lipped about its interest in picking up certain players. We'll never hear anything before they pick him up or work him out.
And I firmly believe that between now and opening day, we'll see some turnover. I suspect it won't really start until after the 3rd preseason game when teams know exactly who'll they keep and who'll they release. There's always a few vet surprises who hit the market, and sometimes a team will part ways with a 6th or 7th to get a guy that another team has signaled they're going to let go. I don't know exactly who and where, but I have a couple of hunches.
I think I could occur on the Oline, with a versatile veteran guy who can play Tackle and Guard. I think the Rams are very vulnerable at LOT if anything were to happen to Whit.
I don't know but one solution might be Saffold to LOT which is what he was suppose to be when he was drafted. I also keep thinking I don't believe Ryan Clady is committed to being retired and might unretire for the right situation.
I also think that if the right WR was to come available, a guy who can take the top off the secondary, they might make a move. Could even happen at RB as it looks more and more like the Dunbar signing was a complete waste (how the heck do you not know a RB has a recurring knee problem?)
How do the Chargers draft Mike Williams 7th overall with a bad back? The Rams have Justin Davis and Aaron Green. I am not worried about Dunbar.
I'm not so sure LB isn't open as well. After Quinn and Barwin, we don't have much. After Ogletree and Barron, who? A bunch of JAGs as far as I can tell.
I like Ebukam and Price, two of our rookies and Josh Forrest. Lets not forget about Hager either.
What we don't know is how patient McVay is willing to be to let young guys develop....or bust. For sure this 1st year is a honeymoon year for him. If there is any pressure, it is the expectation that the offense will improve and at least be more fun to watch. Wins, not so much. So he may be quite patient. On the other hand, if there's a player available that can upgrade a position especially on offense, I'm sure McVay would like the Rams to pursue him.
McVay has no option but to be patient. He drafted the rookies and he has known what is on the roster all along. Plus I don't see a big move unless Aaron Donald situation is settled.
