He is about guys with: football smarts, good hands, runs precise routes, is position flexible, consistent. This is not my guess; it is what he has said (many times).
DeShaun Jackson is hardly a character guy, but he is one of McVay's favorites because he is a consistently productive player.
So, no, it's not all about character. But......character certainly plays a role. Most any coach would tell you that. Less of a role for a star; more of a role for an average player.
