An obvious fact here is that the Rams OFFERED to extend Donald, essentially with the Rams relinquishing their leverage and saying let's come to the negotiating table as equals with figure out an amount. Once the Rams made the offer to extend Donald they cannot use this "leverage" bs. that would be an absolute d*&$ move.
I think it's a classy move, snowman.
Especially when all parties know that the Rams are holding all the cards.
And they don't forfeit their leverage simply because they agree to negotiate in good faith.
Maybe our difference is in terminology. You think of it as leverage and I think of it as the bad result of a do-nothing scenario.
Leverage is something one side uses in negotiations to get what they want or avoid giving up what the y don't want to give. Both sides want the same thing and leverage is not being used in the negotiations. It's a question of how much can the team afford and how can it be structured so other players can be paid what they are expected to be worth.
