I don't think every team looks for that "freak of nature" in the 1st rd.
As a matter of fact I'm comfortable in saying I know that's not the case.
What I do know is a lot of teams look for a player in the first rd that has a unique skill set that they feel they can develop.
There is a very specific difference there. I'll spell it out.
A "freak of nature" has
physical skills that team believe they can translate to their system.
A player that has a unique skill set is an identifiable trait that translates to football.
I don't know if that's clear but case in point...Robert Quinn vs Jason Smith.
Think about the players, can you rationalize the difference?
