A LOT of people in St Louis got walked all over. JUST like Georgia walking all over L.A. fans in 1994-95. I find ZERO excitement in the gluttonous numbers of greedy NFL numbers. In a few years, some other city is gonna be held for ransom while an owner strives to top Stan........And a few years after that......etc etc etc
Yeah, it's all Capitalism / business or whatever but more n more, it's alienating and turn off a LOT of fans. Till the Rams actually WIN, Stan's new football palace will be nothing but a toilet bowl....outside of his account.
I agree with most of that. Personally, I don't find much to be proud of in terms of admiring a schnazzy stadium. I follow the team and just put up with the Taj Mahal Top of the Line Stadium stuff. It's a big world and there are Rams fans who WILL like that stuff...I;m just not one of them. However, I will say this....it;'s not "capitalism/business" per se we're talking about here...because there's more than one version of that. There are teams that make money and still have another foot solidly on community-oriented values. So for example, wouldn't move a team JUST BECAUSE it represents an opportunity to build value.
For those who don';t know me, I am neither a St. Louis based fan or a southern cal based fan (though I have lived both places, decades ago). I am a nomad fan who has followed them since the 70s. I don't have any city loyalty to either place. I speak just from the position of someone who, like you, isnt' particularly fond of the new "grow the brand" style business approach the league has now, and I agree with you that it turns off a lot of fans.
