the fact that Demoff is the new John Shaw is telling. It's same structure as before. Absentee owner lawyer/bean counter in charge, football people answer to them with powers limited, as Lombardi describes
I'm as a big a believer in culture than anyone but the article and your post here leave me with questions.
Is there any concrete evidence available that the organizational structure is in itself defective?
No there is no empirical evidence other than non-winning seasonsWe know with Shaw that money was above all, is there evidence that Demoff is the same in that regard?
NO John Shaw did exactly what he was paid to do and in the midst of that still managed to bring the franchise its only Lombardi. John hired Vermeil who he went after multiple times, and suggested to Vermeil that he interview Martz. We should be so lucky! Demoff has different objectives but if he manages to bring the franchise a Lombardi nobody will care what his motives are. Btw a lot of misinformation being spouted in this thread. John did NOT handpick Demoff Devaney did. Billy Devaney pushed very hard for Demoff to be hired and it was essentially his campaigning that got him hired. You guys had the chance to ask him yourself, I offered to bring him on the board for a chat and nobody wanted him. Why get the truth when lies and innuendo are so much more entertaining I guess.Did Fisher have limited power? How? In what ways did that manifest?
Fisher had ALL the power. It is one of the *main* reasons why Fisher took the job only after meeting with Stan alone a second time. He didn't specifically ask for all the power but he got it. The hierarchy read Demoff > Fisher but Demoff was essentially a conduit. In the last 5 years, who primarily impacted the culture, Fisher or Demoff?
Jeff Fisher came to the Rams and did exactly what I said he would. I had no idea what Demoff was about but because it unfolded as I predicted, that's evidence enough for ME that it was on Jeff Fisher, I had seen it all before. For those that paid attention I wrote about what type of team Fisher would build, and many times I posted that when Fishers main man Heimerdinger left Fisher was ALL over the place on offense. I even posted about his relationship with a former SC OC who Jeff hired in Tenny who I know extremely well. I have intimate knowledge of what went on there. Jeff Fisher was a relic who relied on bully ball and nothing substantive like attention to detail. His message and leadership ability fizzled out when he was fired in Tenny. He was washed then but Stan desired a steady hand. There could be a lot of truth in that article but he'd have to go into a lot more depth with some solid evidence to get me to buy in. As it is, he lazily tosses the word culture out without really exploring in depth what it's lacking, who's responsible and why.
Lombardi has an axe to grind we can discuss it privately I will not post it publicly.

Bill Belichick, not Bill Walsh, not Vince Lombardi, not George Halas or Don Shula could succeed in this culture.
THAT is the most egregious statement in his entire piece. Needless to say its wildly speculative based on the failings of incompetent coaching.
We shouldn't expect anything from Sean McVay he's obviously doomed to fail!!
Pfffffttttt
