I don't follow as closely as many here, so this a good post just to catch up with what's going on in general. I do agree that the TE position has been pretty quiet at this (too early) date, because it's (of course) too early to worry. But as is said every year, TE is a tough position, especially for rookies to pick up and contribute quickly.
I've noticed 3 things so far this awfseason: 1. Some positions seem to be improving like night and day (Goff); 2. there are plenty of players ready to pick up behind whoever is dropping slack (GRob); and 3. guys who've stood out a little in the past are getting their due (Joyner). I credit the new coaching staff for 1. and 2. In this early stage, small gains are good gains, and the difference between an 8-8 (or better) team and 4-12 team is surprisingly small at this level.
