Used to be when the face was more exposed .......

Players were a LOT less inclined to go head first. These days, with face shields, they almost look like motorcycle helmets.

Put it this way.....I'm sure most of us played sand lot tackle ball with NO helmets. I played HUNDREDS of games as a kid.....and saw a nothing but heads UP!
