So I'll say him....and I don't think it's real close
I'm not sure that Reynolds sees the field as quickly as Kupp or Everett, Flip.
Woods and Tavon are gonna be ahead of him until he gets his sea legs.
Therefore, I would pick either Kupp or Everett based upon the way the question is framed.
I'll stand by my answer. I'd like to think that a young offensive mind like McVay won't pigeonhole Reynolds to the outside like you have. He wasn't a target hog slot WR in college but he did run some plays from the slot and looked very comfortable there to me. He's shifty vs man coverage and understands how to read zone. He will be able to use his length inside vs the traditionally smaller slot CBs.
Everett MIGHT get force fed playing time but TE is a tough jump. LBs move so much faster at the NFL level, much more physical, and TEs deal with defenders coming from all angles. WRs at least have the advantage of some one on ones in SOME space. So that leads to Kupp vs Reynolds and I simply feel Reynolds is the better WR and a good offensive mind is going to get his better players on the field and use them.
I loved the Reynolds pick in the 4th, Flip. Just loved it. I believe that he will be a huge weapon and a Goff and crowd favorite.
But I'm focusing on the word "instantly" in the original post title.
I think Reynolds will have to fight for snaps over Woods and Tavon early on. I believe that McVay will feel committed to giving Tavon every last opportunity to make a positive impression. Probably for 4-6 games. Therefore, the word instantly applies less to Reynolds than to Everett and Kupp, imo.
I see both Everett and Kupp getting starting snaps very early on. Both might be opening day starters, in fact.
Heck, I'm just gonna say it. I think Kupp might even be a candidate for OROY. Snead's 3rd, btw.
There is no point in us discussing this further. We are WORLDS apart in our evaluation of these guys
That's cool, Flip.
Just remember, you heard it here first. Lol.
