The reason you don't see Austin getting results like Edelman and Amedola is because he's nothing like those guys, other than being small and fast. He can't run routes, be reliably where he's supposed to be or catch the ball like those guys. The Rams have tried every possible means imaginable to get him the ball in space, including flat out handing it off to him since they could actually depend on that connection being made. Beyond all the reverses, smoke screens, pick plays, etc., the only other thing he could reliably do is get straight down the field.
You're talking about using him as an actual short to intermediate precision route running receiver in and through traffic which where he completely lacks proficiency.
